 The Technical Director of Technology & Digital Biomedical Engineering is a proactive, results-driven leader responsible for advancing the organization’s clinical technology ecosystem through innovation, operational excellence, and modern digital capabilities. This role blends biomedical engineering, infrastructure, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to improve device reliability, operational efficiency, and patient safety.

This leader has a proven track record of leading technology organizations, building high-performing teams, and developing scalable processes that drive measurable improvement. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, comfortable setting direction while remaining engaged in architecture, systems, and operational execution.

The Technical Director thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and leverages technology to solve complex clinical and business challenges at scale. This role requires a strong people leader who can hire, mentor, and elevate technical teams while establishing clear roadmaps and driving initiatives from concept through execution. 

Key Responsibilities

· Lead biomedical engineering and clinical technology services, ensuring high availability, safety, and performance of medical devices

· Drive the adoption of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to enhance predictive maintenance, asset management, and operational decision-making

· Develop and implement standardized processes, SOPs, and governance models to improve consistency, efficiency, and compliance

· Build and execute strategic roadmaps aligned to enterprise Technology & Digital priorities

· Partner with clinical, operational, and IT leadership to align technology solutions with patient care needs

· Oversee device lifecycle management, including acquisition, maintenance, optimization, and retirement

· Advance integration of clinical devices with enterprise systems (e.g., EHR and interoperability platforms)

· Lead automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve service delivery (e.g., work order triage, inventory tracking)

· Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level performance

· Recruit, develop, and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Artificial Intelligence & Innovation

· Identify and implement AI-driven solutions to proactively detect device failures, reduce downtime, and improve patient safety

· Leverage data and machine learning to enhance operational insights and decision-making

· Establish governance and best practices for responsible AI use within clinical technology environments

· Evaluate and scale emerging technologies that improve efficiency and service quality

Estimated salary range for this position is $235764.42 - $306493.75 / year depending on experience.

Qualifications:


Degrees:

  • Masters.

Additional Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare technology

  • Demonstrated experience leading a technology or biomedical department, with a focus on building structure, developing processes, and driving continuous improvement

  • Proven success in establishing scalable workflows, standardization, and operational governance

  • Familiarity with modern technology practices, including automation, monitoring, and AI-enabled solutions

  • Strong communication skills across executive, clinical, and technical audiences

  • Experience managing complex initiatives and aligning multiple stakeholders

  • Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing teams

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and change management capabilities
