About the job:
The Point of Care (POC), under the direction of the Laboratory Administrative Director, provides technical oversight for all POC Testing (POCT) across the region, the POCC is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the quality assurance functions of POCT done by non-laboratory caregivers. Provides guidance and leadership in planning, organizing, documenting, and providing technical and quality improvement services for aspects of testing performed at POC sites and in designated non-centralized labs. Educates and provides technical consultation, instrument expertise, and provides documentable in-service and educations sessions with providers. Creates computer-based training and competency. Responsible for oversight of testing personnel performance and adherence to the SOPs withing the framework of compliance with all applicable regulatory/accreditation requirements including CLIA standards, Joint Commission, and College of American Pathology (CAP) guidelines, and investigates and reports on issues on non-compliance and/or proficiency failures. The POCC maintains quality assurance objectives and participates on lab-focused quality improvement projects.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or Chemistry
Licensure: Certified Medical Technologist, Medical Lab Scientist, Lab discipline specific or specialty certificate (ASCP or AMT) preferred
Experience: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience. 2 years of experience in the CLIA Specialty/Subspeciality of Blood Gas, general Chemistry and Coagulation.
