Job Location: Seattle, WA
Position Responsibilities: Own the design, implementation, operation, and support of large-scale
databases that are crucial to the successful operation of Amazon’s global physical security
platform. Support and administer databases for performance critical, highly available, massively
concurrent, distributed systems on a Linux platform. Establish and maintain security and integrity
controls, and formulate and monitor policies, procedures, and standards relating to data
management. Establish and calculate optimum database parameters and specify users and user
access levels. Migrate performance-critical, high availability systems between managed and un
managed database services. Provide support for system upgrades and new system releases, and
perform database monitoring using tooling, PL/SQL, and Shell scripting, security monitoring,
troubleshooting, and resolution of system failures. Work with third-party vendors and software
development teams to deliver highly available, low-latency services. Gather requirements,
model, design, develop, test, implement, support, and tune high availability data. Participate in
design reviews with software teams, and drive feedback on architecture, design, system
integration, performance, and scalability issues as it pertains to databases. Assist in developing
long-term department database technology strategies, and influence cross-company database
engineering processes and standards. 100% Telecommuting Permitted.

Position Requirements: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Networking, Information
Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, plus three years of experience in
the job offered or related
occupation or a Bachelor's degree in Networking, Information Technology, Computer Science,
Engineering, or related field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Must have three years of experience in the following: Performing Linux and/or Windows Systems
administration; (2) Performing Network administration such as: (a) DNS, (b)
DHCP, (c) TCP/IP, (d) Load Balancing, (e) HTTP (f) NAT (g) BGP, or (h) software-based (IPSEC &
SSL) VPN solutions; (3) Working with one of the following database administration technologies:
(a) MySQL, (b) Oracle, (c) PostgreSQL, or (d) MS-SQL; (4) Working with one of the following NoSQL
technologies: (a) DynamoDB, (b) Redis, (c) MongoDB, or (d) Cassandra; (5) Working with ETL tools
in managing data workflow jobs; (6) Performing Hadoop system administration with experience
with one of the following: (a) Hive, (b) Spark, (c) HDFS, (d) Presto, (e) Yarn, (f) Sqoop, (g) Python,
or (h) shell scripting
40 hours/week, 8:00am – 5:00pm, Salary Range $150,197 to $168,800
