
Drayage Container Driver
Job Description
Position Overview:
We are hiring a dependable and safety-focused Company Drayage Driver for local container moves based out of Wilmington, IL. This is an hourly, home-daily position operating on an afternoon/evening shift, with hours based on customer and terminal demand.
Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate a company-assigned tractor and chassis

Pick up and deliver intermodal containers between rail terminals, customer facilities, and local yards

Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor, chassis, and container
-
Properly secure containers using locks, seals, and twist locks

Follow terminal appointment times and access procedures
-
Accurately complete ELD logs and required paperwork
-
Communicate delays, equipment issues, or load changes to dispatch

Comply with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and traffic laws

Return empty containers and equipment as directed
Schedule:
-
Local routes – home daily
-
Primary shift: 3:00 PM to 12:00 Midnight, pending operational demand

Overtime may be available depending on workload

Schedule flexibility required based on terminal and customer needs
Pay & Benefits:

Hourly Pay Range: $32.50-33.50per hour, based on experience

Requirements:

Valid CDL Class A License
-
TWIC Card (required or ability to obtain)

Minimum [2–3] years of professional driving experience

Drayage or intermodal experience preferred but not required

Clean or acceptable MVR
-
Ability to pass drug screen and background check
-
Strong communication and time-management skills
Physical Requirements:

Ability to climb in and out of tractor and chassis multiple times per shift

Ability to handle container locks, landing gear, and related equipment
-
Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
