Job Description
APAC Senior Tax Analyst
Shanghai, China
The position is responsible for the following tax areas for the APAC countries:
- Compliance: Review corporate income tax and indirect tax filings and work papers to ensure accurate reporting of direct/indirect taxes by identifying, researching and evaluating alternative tax positions in order to determine and implement a supportable cost-effective filing position. Ensure compliance with transfer pricing (TP) guidelines and local TP rules
- Tax reporting: Support the accurate preparation of income tax accounts for financial statement purposes. Assist in evaluating uncertain tax reporting positions. Assist in analysing the tax aspects of financial projections and forecasts. Coordinate with the business to ensure accurate cash tax estimates and reporting
- Tax audits and controversies: Manage tax audits, coordinate information gathering to answer requests from government officials to defend tax filing positions
- Accounting activities: Ensure that US GAAP and statutory accounting treatment, consequences of tax decisions and entries related to tax groups are properly and consistently reported in books and records. Actively support and review FAS 109 data to ensure the process is appropriately applied
- Planning activities: Implement structural and non-structural tax planning strategies which maximise tax savings on a defensible basis; coordinate and gather various data required for tax planning activities. Partner with business and provide specialised tax input from technical and operational perspectives in relation to business proposals/models/strategies
- Cash repatriation: Work with various internal and external functions to maximise cash repatriations, where required
- Legislative tracking: Monitor tax legislation changes and assess the implications to the Group. Introduce solutions to manage the changes, where required
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Tax, or related discipline
- Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in tax, preferably in a large corporation or Big 4 firm

- In-depth technical knowledge of tax laws and regulations, especially within China
