The Opportunity
This is a role based in Bogotá, Colombia.
The IT Manager (Colombia Hub) leads day-to-day IT service delivery for a multi-skilled team of approximately 25 resources supporting Abbott’s Medical Devices business. Team members report to functional people managers; this role provides hub-level direction through matrix leadership, including prioritization, standards, and performance governance, to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant services. The manager partners with MDIT and site/business stakeholders to manage demand and capacity, drive continuous improvement, and develop talent across the hub in alignment with Abbott standards and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Do
Serve as the primary hub interface for MDIT and site/business leaders; translate demand into prioritized work; communicate performance, risks, and roadblocks; manage vendor/partner interactions as needed; ensure alignment to Abbott standards, security, and compliance controls
Own workforce planning for ~25 resources; align skill sets to demand; manage schedules, coverage, and throughput; balance priorities across run/support work and improvement initiatives; coordinate with global and regional teams for capacity and escalation support.
Set clear expectations and goals; provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action as needed; manage performance and succession planning; ensure consistent onboarding and role readiness across the team.
Partner with HR and MDIT leaders to define roles, interview and hire talent; build internal pipelines; manage retention risks through career paths, recognition, and engagement actions; ensure competitive and compliant staffing practices
Create an inclusive, high-performing culture; drive training plans and cross-skilling across technical disciplines; conduct regular 1:1s and team communications; improve engagement through feedback loops and action planning
Required Qualifications
Professional university degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution.
10+ years in IT operations, service delivery, and/or technology support in a complex enterprise environment.
7–10 years leading multi-skilled teams, including coaching, performance management, and workforce planning.
Experience in regulated, quality-driven environments preferred (e.g., medical devices, pharma), with working knowledge of IT service management (ITIL) and security/compliance controls.
Fluent English (Spanish preferred); strong people leadership and change-management skills; demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain talent; and effective stakeholder management in a matrixed global organization. ITIL Foundation (or equivalent) preferred.
Experience with incident, problem, and change management, capacity planning, and vendor/partner management required.
