Schedule: Monday through Friday day shift flex scheduling. No weekends or holidays.

About the Position

Supports Patient Resource Services department by coordinating administrative and clerical functions that promote efficient patient care progression, discharge planning, utilization review, and communication among interdisciplinary team members. This role assists case managers and discharge planners in facilitating timely patient throughput and ensuring accurate documentation and communication with payers, providers, patients, and post-acute agencies. The position will also be responsible for issuing Medicare Important Message letters upon admission and follow up letters prior to discharge according to CMS Guidelines. Is knowledgeable of the current electronic medical record (EMR) and other related systems.

Overview of Responsibilities

• Accurately performs all related computer functions.
• Assists case managers and discharge planners with daily administrative support activities.
• Communicates with insurance companies regarding authorization status.
• Provides patients with appropriate letter of admission per payor type and regulation. Required to issue initial Medicare Important Message letter and follow Important Message letter per CMS regulations.
• Enters and/or corrects the required information into the current EMR as indicated, such as payer source, emergency contact, and demographics.
• Works collaboratively with other members of the Patient Resource Services team, Patient Placement team, and Patient Access team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Minimum education required to perform the job: High School Diploma.
• Minimum education preferred to perform the job: College-level courses in a related field preferred.
• Minimum experience required for the incumbent to be considered for the position: One to two years of previous experience in a professional office setting required.
