Pay Range:
$24.10 - $36.15Major Responsibilities
- Performs preparatory, scrubbing, and support activities in the operating room under supervision across multiple surgical specialties.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment to support patient care.
- Applies aseptic technique in preparing instruments, supplies, equipment, and maintaining the sterile field.
- Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Assists with operating room setup, equipment use, post-procedure breakdown, and return of equipment.
- Functions as a Second Assistant, as appropriate.
- Identifies and reports equipment or supply issues.
- Maintains specialty carts and equipment, ensuring readiness and sterility.
- Performs patient positioning and transport using proper body mechanics.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED and current enrollment in a Surgical Technology program at an approved college, with continued satisfactory progress.
Certification / Registration / License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 6 months.

- Foundational knowledge of the Surgical Technologist profession
- Professional attitude and strong interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist and 20 pounds overhead
- Carry up to 40 pounds and push/pull up to 30 pounds of force
- Perform assisted patient transfers up to 150 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching during shifts
- Operate equipment and foot pedals as required
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and biological hazards
- Use of personal protective equipment required (masks, gloves, gowns, goggles)
Preferred Job Requirements
Education
- College-level coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Algebra
Certification / Registration / License
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience
- Prior experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, Intraoperative Technician, or similar role
