JOB SUMMARY
Job Profile SummaryResponsible for leading a team of engineers and technical staff supporting the design, reliability, and optimization of oil & gas assets. Ensures engineering standards, safety expectations, and regulatory requirements are consistently met across assigned assets or projects. Provides both leadership and technical oversight, partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Commercial, and Project teams to drive safe, reliable, and cost-effective outcomes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and manage a team of engineers and technical professionals, providing direction, coaching, and performance management.
- Oversee engineering support for pipeline, plant, terminal, or field operations, ensuring safe and reliable asset performance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, company standards, and environmental and safety requirements.
- Provide technical review and approval of engineering designs, specifications, and modifications.
- Partners with Operations and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot performance issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Support capital project development, including scope definition, cost estimates, and execution alignment with engineering standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost optimization.
- Ensure effective risk management by identifying, evaluating, and mitigating operational and technical risks.
- Support incident investigations and root cause analysis, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Commercial, Project Management, HSSE, and Regulatory teams.
- Leadership
- Supervises a team, typically consisting of professionals at the entry or level and higher-level support / production employees
- Leads, directs, and reviews the work of team to accomplish operational plans and results
- Typically provides input to hiring, firing, promotion, performance, and rewards decisions for direct reports, for higher-level consideration and approval
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related discipline, typically required
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered
Work Experience
- 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in the oil & gas industry
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of: Strong knowledge of oil & gas operations, including pipelines, processing plants, or production systems
- Knowledge of: Understanding of engineering design principles, codes, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, API)
- Ability to: lead technical teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Skills in: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Skills in: Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to: translate technical concepts into practical operational solutions
Licenses and Certifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license typically required
