Now Hiring: Vice President, Loan Servicing

The Vice President, Loan Servicing administers all activities and provides leadership to the Loan Servicing Department and demonstrates a broad knowledge of loan products, collateral types, borrowing entities and loan servicing activities of all consumer, residential, and commercial loan products. This individual oversees the completion of all special projects and assignments related to loan servicing, in addition to leading, mentoring, and motivating the team to achieve departmental goals, while also analyzing data to optimize strategies for efficiency and risk mitigation. The VP, Loan Servicing, has a deep understanding of industry regulations to maintain a healthy loan portfolio and deliver exceptional member experience. This role works closely with the various lending officers as well as branch and other employees as it relates to the selling, promotion and servicing of loan products.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Oversees and directs the day-to-day activities in the department ensuring accurate completion of servicing functions including the processing, closing and post-closing activities
  • Leads, coaches, and develops the loan servicing team on the adherence of policies and procedures as it relates to the servicing of loans
  • Oversees the budgeting and expenses management for the department
  • Ensures loan files are properly maintained and retained in accordance with record retention policy
  • Oversees the servicing and reporting responsibilities related to agencies such as FHLB, FNMA and SBA, including SBA 1502 reporting
  • Ensures accurate lien perfection, UCC filing, file tracking and compliance audits
  • Ensures appropriate general ledger reconciliations related to the department are done in an accurate and sound manner
  • Oversees staff responsible for correspondent sales as it relates to servicing
  • Oversees the post-closing construction loan process for residential and commercial lending
  • Ensures compliance for secondary market servicing
  • Ensures the accuracy and oversight of all activities related to loans that are participated in or out
  • Monitors and enforces timely and accurate production of department reports, schedules and related data
  • Ensures the proper adherence to flood reporting as well as the proper tracking of flood, hazard and force placed insurance as it relates to originated loans
  • Develops and enforces procedures and production schedules to assure the timely and accurate completion of servicing functions
  • Oversees research and collaborates with vendors/strategic partners to identify solutions and opportunities to optimize and streamline internal processes
  • Works with back-office areas to answer questions, provide support and process lending requests
  • Collaborates with the compliance and risk areas on adherence to deliverables and policies as well as manages audits and regulatory examinations, ensuring all documentation and processes are in order
  • Addresses staffing needs and develops budget expectations, promotions, growth and development, and all related matters for the loan servicing team
  • Serves on management committees as necessary
  • Attends a variety of community events to promote the Credit Union
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives and Credit Union-wide strategic projects as needed
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including CFPB, FDCPA, FCRA, SCRA, RESPA, and investor guidelines (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHLB, etc.)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages, coaches, directs, and evaluates subordinate exempt and non-exempt employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supervisory responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in a business discipline;
  • Minimum of seven to ten years related work experience in banking, finance or lending, including prior experience in a management/supervisory capacity; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
