We are pleased to announce that px Group have taken over operations of the Shetland Gas Plant (SGP) and associated West of Shetland infrastructure, marking the start of a strong new partnership with Serica Energy plc.
The Shetland Gas Plant is a key part of the Greater Laggan Area energy system, processing gas from offshore fields West of Shetland and transporting it via the SIRGE and FUKA pipelines to the St Fergus Gas Terminal, where it enters the UK’s National Grid.
The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a HSE Superintendent.
The HSE Superintendent monitors the safety, occupational health and environmental performance of operations at the SGP facilities and associated subsea installations and provides advice on safety, health and environmental issues to all levels of personnel in order to ensure working practices, procedures and systems meet statutory requirements and industry and Company standards.
You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring all HSE related issues onsite.
- Promote and identify best in class techniques to ensure high levels of safety onsite.
- Assist to ensure a high level of site personnel emergency readiness.
- Ensure all safety equipment is being suitably maintained by third party contractor.
- Ensure all environmental response equipment is maintained fully operational on site.
- Develop and maintain Site Safety and Environmental procedures, custodian of Temporary Safety and Environmental Instructions.
- Support the Terminal Manager by coordination and liaison with all Site and Aberdeen departments to ensure safe and environmentally compliant completion of work scopes.
- Highlight any safety, health and environmental concerns to relevant parties to ensure effective follow up and resolution.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation, Company HSE tandards, procedures and Industry Best Practices to allow monitoring of site activities and advise site management and supervision for site operations. Safety and Environment
- Provide advice and assistance to Line Managers and Supervisors on all aspects of safety and occupational health and environmental issues concerning the site and operations performed.
- Advise Line Managers and Supervisors on necessary risk control measures.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Hold or be working towards a professional qualification in safety - NEBOSH Diploma in Safety Management.
- Experience of safety in the petrochemical industry.
- Experience in leadership, supervisory and training skills are essential.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation relevant to terminals, safe working practices, fire fighting systems and techniques, and emergency response management.
- Understanding of environmental requirements relevant to the SGP.
- Understanding of onshore terminal operations (production, maintenance and construction), and the handling of hazardous chemicals.
