
Transportation Dispatch Secretary
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Madison County Public Schools is seeking a Transportation Dispatch Secretary. The successful applicant should possess intellectual depth and breadth, a strong work ethic, a capacity for communication, noteworthy assignment scheduling experience, an appreciation of innovative practice, and a track record of positive customer service. The candidate must also possess the capacity to demonstrate flexibility in work requirements, including hours worked and responsibilities assigned, multitask efficiently and accurately, and positively represent the division in multiple settings. The ability to complete assignments with promptness and precision is a must along with independent self-initiative.
REQUIRED:
- A working knowledge of general clerical and technical work including record keeping and maintenance.
- Proficiency with basic record keeping programs and office instruments, to include but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, fax, phone, copiers, and other various equipment.
- Possess or qualify for a commercial driver's license with school bus endorsement or be willing to obtain within 60 days of employment.
- Proven record of excellent customer service.
- Be able to handle several tasks at one time.
- The ability to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, pulling or pushing, and carrying of objects and materials of moderate weight.
- Must have the ability to represent an outstanding school division by maintaining high standards and ethics each and every day.
- Maintain confidentiality of departmental items and documentation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support to the Director of Transportation and transportation staff.
- Maintain records, review for accuracy, and prepare various office documents.
- Coordinate transportation repair needs and orders.
- Receive and direct incoming calls and queries, and accurately record or notate patron needs.
- Verify approval on all invoices and check requests.
- Manage routes and additional trips as needed.
- Drive a bus or car daily to transport students as needed.
SALARY RANGE: $28,924 - $39,426; commensurate with experience. This is a 10month/200-day contract.
