What we want
The Medical Receptionist I is responsible for greeting patients and visitors in the clinic, handling patient calls for scheduling appointments and routing calls to the appropriate clinical staff. This position will handle front desk tasks including data entry into the Electronic Management System and billing/insurance processing and inquiries.

Salary: $13.00-$19.00/hour and will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.

Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of experience in general office, medical office or related areas.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be skilled in the operations of a medical office
Working knowledge of word processing software
Basic computer and typing skills, keyboarding
Interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to plan and organize effectively
Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree
Two years’ experience in general office or personnel operations including one year experience working within a medical office
Prior EHR experience
Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
Fluent in Spanish
Responsibilities:
Patient Phone Calls
Handles phone calls from patients who need to schedule appointments to include adding new patients, verifying demographic information and insurance.
Routes calls to clinical staff and enter phone notes as appropriate.
Front Desk Patient Check-In
Verifies patient demographic information, collect co-pays and past-due balances
Works patient waitlist, verifies insurance, registers patients for portal, checks patients in/out.
Scans insurance cards and IDs.
Assists patients with kiosk.
Other Billing Projects
Performs various projects that can include, but not limited to, correcting denied claims due to registration errors, contacting patients related to upcoming visits, scheduling patient for wellness visits, inputting demographics for hospital billers.
Provides staff support and performs business activities.
