Job Description
We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a team of 800+ advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 20+ office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. As our new Senior Environmental Assessment & Permitting professional, you will play a key role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. We are seeking an experienced practitioner in environmental assessment (EA) and permitting of resource development projects in BC or across Canada, with strong technical expertise, project delivery experience, and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
Preference (but not necessary) is to be based in BC to collaborate with regional team members, with flexible work options available. Travel within Canada, particularly within BC, may be required depending on project needs.
Responsibilities:
Contribute as a key technical professional in environmental assessment and permitting projects, supporting delivery across multiple sectors.
Support consultation and engagement activities, contributing to clear, respectful, and effective communication processes.
Assist with proposal development, including technical inputs, work planning, and cost estimates.
Contribute to maintaining high standards of quality and consistency across all project deliverables.
Mentor and support junior and intermediate staff, contributing to knowledge sharing and team development.
Promote a positive and collaborative team environment through teamwork and open communication.

The salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000. Final agreed-upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in a related environmental discipline (environmental science, engineering, ecology, or environmental policy/law).
7-12+ years of experience in environmental assessment and permitting in BC or a relevant Canadian jurisdiction.
Strong understanding of municipal, provincial, and federal environmental regulatory and permitting frameworks.
Demonstrated experience supporting EA processes and preparing regulatory applications and technical reports.
Experience working within an environmental consulting environment.
Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple priorities.
Exposure to Indigenous consultation and stakeholder engagement processes is an asset.
Understanding of international environmental and social impact assessment standards is an asset.
Willingness to travel within Canada as required.
