Job Description
Accountable for performance and results across multiple related units or an entire function. Develops and executes departmental plans covering business, operational, and organizational priorities. Controls resources and shapes policy within the area of responsibility. Makes decisions guided by resource availability and functional objectives. Applies functional knowledge and established methodologies to resolve complex problems. Manages large teams of professionals and/or junior managers.
The Role
This position manages activities of Engineering team to design, manufacture and test components, products and systems by performing these duties personally or through team members. The Manager must have the skill set to train and or perform the tasks of the other associates in the department as needed. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support the organization.
Essential Functions
- Manages activities of Engineering team to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques and develop test procedures.
- Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies or concepts.
- Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs and market demand to plan projects.
- Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations and /or inter-departmental relations.
- Formulate and maintain Engineering team focus.
- Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.
- Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
- Schedule training for personnel.
- Assist service department with technical information.
- Coordinate and prioritize department workload.
- Communicate regularly with other individuals/departments within the organization.
- Other duties assigned due to the need of the business.
