Part Time Bartender - Evan Williams Bourbon Experience

This role is onsite and based at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience in downtown Louisville. Preferred availability coincides with weekend operating hours: Friday & Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm, Sunday 12:30pm-5:00pm. 

What the Role Is 

The Evan William’s Bourbon Experience Bartender will be responsible for creating a memorable and unique experience within our barroom and for flawless operation of the bar.

The Bartender will be responsible for entertaining & educating guests, providing efficient beverage service and maintaining the bar’s cleanliness and overall appearance. This position will generate a lasting impression for all visitors as guests acquaint themselves with the taste profile of our Bourbon, our rich company history, and tradition of excellence.

How You Will Spend Your Time?

• Provide an exceptional guest experience and connect with visitors through educations and bar menu selections, maintaining a positive guest/customer relation
• Maximize sales, help drive profits, manage labor and control costs for the bar area.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all Heaven Hill Brand products, most up-to-date mixology options, garnishes for drinks, all bar menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, portion sizes, presentation and price.
• Ensure all policies, procedures and practices are within local code.
• Maintain highest health standards, sanitation and cleanliness in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state and government guidelines.
• Wash and polish all glassware as required for each day’s business and ensure barware and bar area are clean and organized throughout the shift and before the end of each day.
• Ensure all sundry items such as coasters, etc. are in good condition and replaced as required
• Coordinate with GM or AGM for any on-the-job training on a regular basis.
• Develop bar offerings, such as cocktails, Bourbon flights and snacks and ensure an efficient work pace to maintain guest satisfaction
• Develop and maintain effective communication between colleagues and management.
• Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations and Heaven Hill’s Responsible consumption and Corporate Social Responsibility policies.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with distributors.
• Establish par levels for supplies necessary for bar operations. Complete requests to replenish stock or additional items needed for anticipated business.
• Maintain per drink/beverage cost to maintain the highest profit margins.
• Ensure the bar is secure when not open for business.
• Coordinate with GM to create bartender schedules. 

Who You Are… 

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Minimum 2 years of related experience as a bartender

• STAR certified or willingness to attain STAR certification within 90 days

• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

• Proven experience in bar menu item creation

• Knowledge of product ordering protocol.

• Basic knowledge of computer systems and technology, including cash registers, point-of-sale systems, scanners, etc.

• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. 

• Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to talk to others to convey information effectively

• Service Orientation – actively looking for ways to help people

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel and Outlook

• Ability to work in a team and be a self-starter

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

• Previous work experience in the distilled spirits industry or visitor center, Bourbon bar, tourist attraction or retail gift shop
• Familiarity with bourbon knowledge and language
• Certification as a mixologist from a reputable bartending school preferred

While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to:

• Stand; extensive walking; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. 
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
