Job Description

WE ARE HIRING FOR PARKS COUNTY FAIR EVENT STAFF!



Coconino County Fair Event Staff are needed for the operations of this long-standing regional event. These are temporary position that do not include benefits.
  • Dates of Employment: Labor Day weekend, September 4 through September 7, 2026.
    • With some select positions that are available during the week of August 31.
  • Both AM and PM shifts are available.
  • Wages range from $18.35 to $19.45 per hour depending on position.
  • Once selected, Event Staff must attend a mandatory paid training.
  • Final offer is contingent on background check. 
  • Must be at least 18 years old to apply.

The following positions are available:

Admissions Cashier/Floater: Process admissions transactions (cash and credit card), utilizing a computerized system. Cash handling, computer, and excellent customer service skills are required. Work takes place sitting in an enclosed booth for long periods of time.

Admissions Money Runner: Makes change for as many as 6 cashiers. Must have strong communication skills and money handling experience. Responsible for money drops to and from the ticket booths. Money drops are always done in pairs or with security. Work is mainly on their feet.

Admissions Supervisor: Troubleshoot issues at the ticket booths, including system errors (both hardware and software) and keep admissions process flowing smoothly. Computer, customer service, and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to problem solve. 

Guest Services Coordinator: Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and providing information to fairgoers in the ticketing area and admissions lines.  Helps keep admission lines flowing smoothly. Skills in customer service, proficiency with technology, problem solving, teamwork, and communication are required. Work is mainly on their feet, in outside conditions.

Entertainment Coordinator: Coordinates unloading/loading with entertainment acts, stocks food and beverages, pays artists, makes various announcements, and keeps stages (2) on schedule. Must be able to lift upwards of 10 lbs., stay on feet for majority of shift, and solve problems. Candidate may also be responsible for making announcements using the fairgrounds loudspeaker system.

Ice Crew: This position delivers ice to the food vendors, entertainment, and sponsors. The Parks and Recreation Department supplies the ice from a large ice truck while vendors, entertainment, and sponsors trade tickets for ice. Must be able to lift 16 lbs in repetitive fashion. Desirable skills include good customer service, organization skills, and walking or standing for an extended period.

Information Booth: Answers questions from the general public, manages lost and found, reports concerns to staff, and may work with law enforcement. Offer assistance and provide excellent customer service. Work is outside under a tent and requires sitting or staying on feet. May train volunteers on Information Booth operations. 

Mascot: Wears Coco the Cow mascot costume during select Fair hours. Interacts with attendees, especially kids, giving high-fives and waving. Is available for photo opportunities with the public. Must be able to be on feet for long periods of time in an outdoor setting and have a positive, fun, friendly, and engaging demeanor.

Mascot Handler: Assists the Fair’s mascot, Coco the Cow, move about the fairgrounds. Position requires the mascot handler interact with the public. Candidates must be willing to dress in themed attire (provided by the organization) and willing to engage the public in a fun and friendly manner. Candidate may also be responsible for making announcements using the fairgrounds loudspeaker system. Work takes place in an outdoor setting and must be able to be on feet for long periods of time.  

Money Room Assistant: Under the supervision of Coconino County Staff, assists in the counting of cash received throughout the Fair. Must have previous cash handling experience and strong organization skills. Work is primarily seated in an office.

Parking Attendant: Assist in directing traffic and preparing customers to pay for parking. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required. This position will be standing most of the time. 

Parking Cashier: Process parking transactions utilizing a computerized system. Computer skills and excellent customer service skills are required. Works mainly on their feet in an outdoor setting.

Parking Supervisor: Troubleshoot issues at the parking lots, including system errors (both hardware and software) and keep parking flowing smoothly. Computer and customer service and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to problem solve.  

Ticket Scanners: Check and scan admission tickets at the front gate. Desirable skills include good customer service and ability to work with electronic barcode scanners. Barcode scanner training will be provided. Work takes place in an outdoor setting and requires standing for long periods of time.

Vendor Check-In Support: Assist with Vendor Check-In several days preceding the Fair. Distribute vendor packets, show vendors their confirmed spaces, and answer questions. Organizational, customer service, and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to problem solve. Work is both seated in an indoor setting, and on their feet in an outdoor setting.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The offer of employment is subject to the verification of eligibility for employment as required by Arizona and federal law, therefore applicants must provide unexpired identification documentation to successfully complete I-9 Identity Documentation. Offer of Mascot and Mascot Handler positions are contingent on a full background check.
