Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of principal, the Music will teacher general music classes to students.  The teacher will plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.  The music teacher will participate in the school community and produce and support musical performances/programs. Spanish proficiency a plus. Additional subject area approvals are a plus.
 

Education, Experience and Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Professional Educator Licensure from the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Appropriate endorsement for position.
  • Previous teaching experience with elementary school-aged children preferred.
  • Satisfactory report from a fingerprint-based criminal history records check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child. 

Terms of Employment:

  • 180 day position.
  • Evaluation conducted in accordance with the evaluation plan, the Illinois School Code and applicable regulations of the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Salary and increase set by Professional Negotiation Contract.

Working Conditions:

  • In person and on site in a school/classroom environment.
  • Close contact with school age children.
