Seaman Corporation is seeking a Supplier Development Analyst to join our Operations team! This position will report to the Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Supplier Development Analyst plays a key role in managing and improving supplier performance by ensuring that suppliers meet the established standard for quality, cost, and delivery. This position will promote excellence in supplier performance through audits and implementation of Lean-focused process improvements. The position will also seek out opportunities to reduce costs and waste with current suppliers, while also seeking out new supplier partnerships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Assess new suppliers’ capabilities and ensure they meet standards for quality, cost, and delivery.
Evaluate supplier performance and support improvement plans as needed.
Work with suppliers to implement Lean manufacturing principles and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Ensure suppliers observe industry standards and regulations.
Assist supplier process troubleshooting and help them improve their processes and products.
Cross-functional collaboration with internal Technical, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Management teams.
Regular audits of key suppliers’ facilities to ensure they are following standards and to generate Continuous Improvement opportunities.
Identify opportunities to reduce costs through supplier development and process optimization.
Support the introduction of new products by ensuring suppliers are able to meet specifications and timeframes.
Work with suppliers to demonstrate and maintain capability to meet specifications.
Mitigate any quality issues and containment at suppliers to improve quality.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related field; or relevant work experience required
3–7 years of experience in Purchasing and/or Supplier Development
Strong understanding of chemistry principles, manufacturing processes, and quality control methods
Familiarity with supplier quality management methods and accreditations
Ability to identify issues, root causes, and implement corrective actions when problem solving
Prior experience with project management
Excellent cross functional and external communication skills
Experience with data analysis, negotiation, regulatory compliance, and Lean processes
