Senior Harness Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
About 1X
We’re building humanoid robots that work in home, doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it’s not.
To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing, at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.
NEO is our flagship, a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it, we’re shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you.
If you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world, this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time, safely creating abundance for all.
About the Team
The Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for transforming advanced robotic designs into scalable, repeatable production systems. Working at the intersection of engineering, operations, and supply chain, the team develops the processes, standards, and manufacturing infrastructure required to build thousands of reliable humanoid robots.
Your Charter
Own the full lifecycle of robot wiring systems from prototype through high volume production. Develop and scale manufacturing processes that ensure every harness is assembled, routed, tested, and integrated consistently, enabling reliable robot performance while supporting rapid production growth.
Key Outcomes
Establish and maintain manufacturing standards, documentation, and process controls that enable repeatable harness production at scale
Ensure harness assemblies consistently meet quality, reliability, routing, and termination requirements across all production builds
Drive supplier and contract manufacturer performance improvements that increase yield, reduce cost, and support production ramp targets
Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions that reduce harness-related defects during assembly, integration, and field operation
Improve manufacturability and serviceability across the harness portfolio while supporting efficient production line operations
Key Competencies
Deep understanding of harness manufacturing processes, wiring systems, and assembly best practices
Strong process development and documentation skills with a focus on production scalability and quality
Hands on manufacturing mindset with the ability to troubleshoot issues directly on the production floor
Strong cross functional collaboration skills across electrical, mechanical, supply chain, and manufacturing teams
Data driven problem solver capable of identifying root causes and implementing sustainable corrective actions
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
Experience developing and scaling manufacturing processes for wiring harnesses or electromechanical assemblies
Hands on experience with crimping tools, soldering, continuity testing, hi-pot testing, and assembly process validation
Experience creating and releasing production documentation through formal ECO and change control processes
Experience working with contract manufacturers or production teams to scale builds and resolve manufacturing issues
Preferred Skills
IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification
Experience in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or industrial wiring environments
Experience supporting prototype builds, first article inspections, and manufacturing line launches
Experience driving DFM and DFS improvements for complex electromechanical products
