Job Description
Job Title:Manuel Machinist Mill/Lathe
Classification: Hourly 7AM-3PM
Reports To: Plant Administration
Department: Machine Shop
Job Summary
The Machinist will have senior level knowledge in understanding machine shop methodologies.
The Machinist will work self-sufficiently or within a team atmosphere.
The Machinist will use proficiency in receiving and providing written and verbal instructions to accommodate machining production parts or for research and developmental equipment.
The Machinist will apply their dedication and at times necessary long hours to meet deadlines of a particular task by operating manual machine tools to fabricate and manufacture machine parts.
Duties/Responsibilities
Operates manual machine tool and fabrication equipment to produce parts used in new equipment, research and developmental or manufacturing processes.
Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
Selects the appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to be used on machines.
Examines and measures completed units and parts to identify any defects and to ensure units conform with predetermined specifications; adjusts machine controls to resolve production errors.
Inspects machinery for any needed repairs; performs minor repairs within expertise.
Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area.
Complies with applicable safety standards and regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to operate various types of manual machine tools to perform at times tight tolerance machining.
Ability to read blueprints and plans.
Ability to provide shop sketches for innovative ideas or reverse engineered parts.
Excellent mechanical skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. (Quality orientated)
Good attitude
Use a wide variety of measuring equipment such as: Sine Plates, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Dial Bore
Works with minimum supervision/instruction and requires the use of good judgement to make decisions as to the sequence of setup and machining.
Assists lesser-skilled employees.
Education and Experience
Experience in a similar position.
High school graduate or formal training equivalency.
Five years’ + experience as a Machinist, and experience ability to work directly from engineering drawings and sketches.
Interpersonal skills required to deal with people of several levels within the company as well as customer representative.
Extensive knowledge in machinery assembly
Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at time.
Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis’s total compensation package. The hourly base pay range for this role is estimated to be $30-35 per hour .Compensation details listed in US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits.
