Job Description

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate receipt, storage, inventory management, and distribution of products. This role supervises warehouse personnel, coordinates equipment and labor resources, schedules logistics activities, and ensures compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. The Warehouse Supervisor maintains inventory accuracy, manages operational documentation, drives process improvements and efficiencies, and provides operational visibility through timely reporting and communication. Working collaboratively with internal departments, customers, carriers, and external partners, this position ensures seamless execution of warehouse and logistics activities while supporting service, productivity, and cost objectives.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the logistics of inventory movement by scheduling all incoming loads, coordinates appropriate appointment times and controlling stored inventory.
  • Constant evaluation of storage areas and storage layout to promote maximum and efficient organization.
  • Track inventory and ensure all dispatched load information is entered and/or checked out within the MEI ERP system accurately and within time constraints.
  • Monitor inventory and raw materials necessary for industrial storage requirements. Conduct regular inventory audits to verify electronic inventory matches physical inventory. 
  • Keep accurate and current logs and shipment reports of all incoming and outgoing loads.
  • Ensure all required procedures are being followed and all documentation is completed in a manner that meets MEI standards.
  • Demonstrate proper Pre-Task Plans, Inspections, and daily worksheet accuracy. Teach proper lifting techniques, flag signaling, and proper paperwork completion. 
  • Maintain the condition of the warehouse in a manner that is consistent with the company’s standards for safety, security, and efficiency. Model good housekeeping practices and encourage this with others.
  • Drive team performance and develop employees in a manner that is consistent with the Continuous Improvement process. Own team member performance; align team members when inventory adjustments are needed. 
  • Interact with customers, drivers, vendors, auditors, and visitors in a manner that is consistent with MEI’s mission and policy statements.
  • Identify and coordinate necessary employee training. Keep accurate training logs to satisfy Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare monthly reporting for storage conditions, events, and MEI-owned equipment.
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute all required paperwork to appropriate groups (crew, accounting, operations management) related to the job, change orders, assignment of crew and equipment, safety, JHA’s (job hazard analysis) and equipment repairs & inspections. 
  • Review, edit and adjust labor hours in electronic timekeeping system (ADP), preparing final review and approval by manager. 
  • Update dispatch job board daily by adding and cancelling pending and confirmed jobs. Communicate daily with job foreman and drivers for efficiency of scheduling and dispatch.
  • Coordinate, track, and schedule drop off and pick up all equipment and rentals related to jobs, including equipment from other MRC locations. 
  • Respond professionally and timely to customer (internal and external) emails and phone calls; monitor dashboard to ensure alignment within the Supervisor’s area of responsibility. 
  • Communicate with internal customers (Sales, Sales Admin., and Project Managers) when specific job inventory is housed. 
  • Track and update shipping rates timely. 
  • Other responsibilities as necessary or assigned by the manager.


Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License or ability to attain.
  • Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Minimum two (2) years dispatching experience or comparable warehouse staging and or storage movement background preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in Microsoft Office applications i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Industrial Machinery Equipment Operations experience.
  • Logistics experience to interface with transportation companies.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to explain technical processes to all levels of staff and understanding. 
  • Familiarity with OSHA and DOT regulations is preferred.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This is very physical, hands-on work. A Warehouse Supervisor must be able to perform General Physical Activities — activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling or moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work off the ground at varying heights and not be affected by moving machinery or parts. Work may vary between indoor, climate-controlled, or normal warehouse environment and non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors in all types of weather, and over uneven ground or terrain.
