
Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor – Bioengineering - Boston

About the Opportunity
The Department of Bioengineering in Boston currently has over six hundred undergraduate students and three hundred graduate students. The Department was founded in 2015 and currently has 38 tenure track faculty and 8 full-time teaching faculty. We are seeking teaching faculty to teach in a broad range of Bioengineering topics with emphasis on one or more of the following teaching areas:
- lab-based courses with experience in experimental methods such as mammalian cell culture, microbiological culture, microscopy, and agarose gel electrophoresis
- lecture-based courses on experimental design, measurement, and statistics
- engineering design courses (e.g., capstone)
- cell and tissue engineering
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track position, as an Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor. Appointments are made on an annual 8-month basis, salary commensurate with experience. Non-tenure-track faculty have renewable appointment terms and promotion eligibilities guided by the Faculty Handbook.
Candidates are expected to have teaching expertise generally within the Bioengineering domain, with ability to adapt towards teaching and developing new courses. Proposed state-of-the-art areas in bioengineering will also be considered in the candidate’s skill set.
We seek individuals with a passion to support high-quality teaching and maintain the highest instructional classroom and laboratory standards through preparation of lectures and lab exercises based on course descriptions and materials provided; effective facilitation of rich, respectful debates and discussions; timely development, review, and grading of assignments with appropriate coaching and feedback to the students; consistent connection with students and their performance
The Department of Bioengineering is seeking a person that along with an enthusiasm for teaching, also demonstrates an ability to be a leader in the department to develop new programs and curricula that are applicable to current and future industry needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D., or foreign equivalent, in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering, biotechnology, data science, or related field required by the appointment start date. Track record of and/or clear commitment to teaching excellence at the university level. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work productively and successfully interact with students, faculty, staff, and industry partners. Interest in developing novel approaches to the teaching of Bioengineering topics, development of new courses and curricula to maintain the Program as state-of-the-art in a rapidly changing discipline.

Include a section discussing educational scholarship that you would conduct as part of your efforts in instruction and/or working with students.

Pay Range:
Assistant Teaching Professor: $74,000.00 - $86,000.00 | Associate Teaching Professor: $82,000.00 - $94,000.00 | Teaching Professor: $111,000.00 - $126,000.00 | Associate Teaching Professor: $82,000.00 - $94,000.00 | Teaching Professor: $111,000.00 - $126,000.00With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
