Job Summary
The Vascular Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality vascular ultrasound examinations to support the diagnosis and treatment of vascular conditions. This role prepares patients for exams, operates ultrasound equipment, obtains and reviews diagnostic images, documents exam findings, and communicates relevant information to physicians and other healthcare providers.Essential Functions
• Prepare patients for vascular ultrasound examinations by explaining procedures, answering questions, positioning patients appropriately, and applying ultrasound gel.
• Operate ultrasound equipment, including transducers, monitors, and related imaging systems, to obtain diagnostic images of blood vessels and surrounding anatomy.
• Perform vascular ultrasound studies in accordance with established protocols, safety standards, and departmental procedures.
• Review ultrasound images to identify normal and abnormal vascular findings and ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
• Document exam findings, patient information, and procedure details accurately in the medical record and applicable imaging systems.
• Communicate exam findings and relevant patient information to physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare providers in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain equipment readiness, cleanliness, and safety; report equipment issues or quality concerns as appropriate.
• Support efficient patient flow by coordinating with clinical, administrative, and scheduling teams as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate compassionate, professional interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all organizational, departmental, regulatory, safety, infection control, and quality standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's Degree - Radiologic Technology
Preferred:
- State Sonographer License
- BLS
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - RDMS
- Registered Vascular Technologist - RVT
