Job Description:
The main function of this position is the day-to-day management and monitoring of the Terminal maintenance requirements, internal maintenance and outside vendors performance. This person must be able to manage Vendors and ensure the Terminal maintenance operation is operated in a safe and efficient manner. Ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude. Position will be primarily on nights and willing to work flexible shifts, including weekends.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day in the field maintenance activities
- Provide daily updates of REAL and KEY asset readiness
- Manage the 3rd party vendor onsite service work
- Inform and prioritize with the Terminals Permit Writers to ensure 3rd party vendors are set to work upon arrival at the terminal
- Monitor vendors to ensure they are working on the correct scope of work and monitor their time while at the terminal
- Ensure that the vendors operate in a safe manner utilizing all required PPB, safety devices/policies, JHA and Work Permit process is compliant
- Ongoing measurement and evaluation of vendors performance and ability
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in prioritizing repairs and preventive maintenance to remain in compliance
- Manage the workload based terminal management maintenance priorities
- Ability to troubleshooting all different types of mobile and bulk handling assets
- Check repairs to make sure the unit is in an "Operational Condition"
- Review Work Pending/Service Request and provide input on priority of the repair required
- Assist in determination of correct parts for inventory and appropriate inventory levels
- Assist in managing onsite capital projects
- Actively participate in KM training, SQE meetings, terminal meetings and when requested assist in creating and implementing JHAs
- Provide assistance in other areas based on management request
What You Need
Qualifications:
- Experience in managing an equipment service shop and technicians
- Responsibility of management of a maintenance department's annual budget
- Experience working on all types of equipment, specifically locomotives, conveyors, fork trucks, haul trucks, material handlers, processing equipment, rail car movers and skid steer loaders
- Ability to troubleshoot and instruct on complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Basic understanding and diagnostic ability of diesel engines
