The Business Analyst plays a key role in advancing governance, process maturity, and continuous improvement across Technology Management at ATCO, with a focus on execution and enablement of intake, governance, and prioritization processes.
This role supports the consistent application of standards, structured decision frameworks, and AI-enabled workflows to improve the quality, efficiency, and scalability of technology intake. Working across governance, intake, and innovation activities, the position helps evolve Technology Management into a more structured, data-driven, and high-performing function.
Responsibilities:
The role integrates hands-on execution with enablement and continuous improvement:
Execute and enable improvements to technology intake, governance, and prioritization processes by operationalizing standards, templates, workflows, and supporting documentation.
Strengthen and maintain technology governance frameworks, standards, and controls, ensuring intake and decision-making processes are consistent, transparent, and audit ready.
Support end-to-end BA governance across the intake-to-delivery lifecycle, including intake validation, requirements planning, analysis quality, gate readiness, delivery alignment, and benefits realization
Apply business analysis practices and structured decision frameworks to improve the quality, consistency, and repeatability of intake submissions and support prioritization activities, without owning prioritization decisions.
Identify, pilot, and implement AI and automation opportunities across BA workflows to improve analysis quality, reduce manual effort, minimize duplication, and support scalable delivery practices.
Enhance reporting and data quality to improve pipeline visibility and decision support
Advance Gate Governance by supporting quality reviews, readiness checks, and structured inputs that help initiatives move through governance forums with appropriate evidence and decision support.
Strengthen and maintain business analysis governance quality assurance workflows to advance Gate Governance
Prepare structured analysis, summaries, and inputs to support prioritization, funding, and long-range planning discussions.
Partner with IT and enterprise teams to ensure processes, solutions and governance practices align with ATCO standards,controls and business outcomes
Work closely with business stakeholders across Gas, Electric, and Common groups.
Collaborate with IT, Architecture, Finance, and Regulatory partners.
Support alignment between business needs and technology prioritization decisions.
Facilitate structured discussions and prepare materials to enable clear, timely, and well-informed decisions.
Qualifications:
- A post secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications considered an asset:
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) through IIBA
PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)
IIBA Agile Analysis Certification (IIBA-AAC) or equivalent Agile analysis certification
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent process improvement certification
Prosci Change Management Certification or equivalent change management certification
- 7+ years of experience in technology, process optimization, governance, or related roles.
- Strong grounding in business analysis practices, process improvement, and structured decision frameworks.
- Exposure to AI, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience supporting intake, prioritization, or portfolio planning processes.
- Ability to synthesize complex information into concise, executive-ready outputs.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills
