Parking Control Officer
Schedule: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, may vary
What You'll Do
You'll enforce Fort Wayne City Code Statutes and issues citations to vehicles parked in violation of the statutes. Assists with the enforcement of applicable laws and City policies relating to residential parking and abandoned vehicle code infractions. Parking Control Officer will work with the public in what may become confrontational. Errors in judgement may cause substantial inconveniences and costs to the City, vehicle owners and/or the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce parking codes on city streets, shopping centers, and residential areas
- Issues informational warnings and citations as necessary
- Receive and respond to citizen complaints concerning abandoned vehicles and issues tickets as necessary
- Collect money from meters when necessary
- Pick up stolen bicycles and transport them to storage
- Attend court hearings and give testimony for cases involving citizen dispute of violations;
- Post "No Parking" signs and bags meters as assigned in downtown as well as neighborhoods

What You Bring – Education & Experience
- Required High School Diploma
- Required at least one year's experience dealing with the public daily
Preferred Certifications
- Valid Indiana Driver's License
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Preferred basic knowledge of municipal codes relating to city parking, abandoned vehicle and residential parking
