Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Job Description
Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Hungerford Vets | Hungerford, Berkshire
Salary Up To £60,000 DOE
Hungerford Vets are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and experienced team on a fixed-term contract for up to 12 months.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet looking to enjoy a genuinely varied caseload within a busy hospital environment. The practice sees everything from cats, dogs, rabbits and small furries to the occasional exotic and even wildlife cases brought in by the local community. There is a great balance between consults and theatre work, with the hospital managing routine procedures alongside more advanced surgeries, referral cases, and ECC work.
The role involves working across two well-equipped sites, both fully equipped with advanced technology including digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, multiparameter monitors, capnography, vessel sealing devices and electrosurgery equipment, allowing the team to provide an excellent standard of patient care.
You’ll be joining a highly supportive and knowledgeable team of 12 experienced vets alongside a skilled nursing and client care team. The practice also benefits from certificate holders in surgery, medicine and ophthalmology, as well as a visiting cardiology diplomate each month.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.
You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
• This is a full-time role of 40 hours across four days, Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm. Weekends and out-of-hours are part of the rota, with on-call covered from home and time off in lieu provided for both on-call and weekends worked. The rota runs on a six-week cycle, offering structure and predictability.
• This is a fixed-term contract for up to 12 months.
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
