Design Engineer (Entry)

GENERAL SUMMARY
This position will provide 3-dimensional modeling and design expertise using Siemens Unigraphics product development software in support of the Eclipse 550 very light jet program. Supports changes to the existing design, create new designs in support of major design improvements and provide engineering liaison support to suppliers and manufacturing. This position requires a self-starter, ability to understand the interactions between the different engineering disciplines and able to work in a cooperative, dynamic, team oriented environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Design of aircraft metallic and composite structural components and assemblies.
- Provide design engineering liaison support to suppliers and manufacturing.
- Participate in planning of manufacturing activity.
- Participate in producibility improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor degree or higher, BSME or BSAE preferred, or equivalent education and work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience using Siemens Unigraphics (UG NX 7.5 or higher) design software. University gained experience or experience with other design software packages is acceptable.
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.5M geometric dimensioning and tolerance techniques.
- Familiarity with aircraft structural design.
- Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) software.
- Strong computer skills, utilizing common tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access.
Preferred:
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Experience with FAA certification projects
- Project leadership experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work primarily performed in an office. May have some exposure to noise from aircraft and machinery in a warehouse or hangar environment. Light physical demands associated with an office work environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This is an individual contributor role without supervisory responsibilities.
TRAVEL: Minimal to none
REPORTS TO: Manager, Engineering
SCHEDULE: M-F / exempt position with a minimum work week of 40 hours
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 / year based on education/experience
