Description
Morgan Corp. is looking for an experienced Pipe Layer to support our utility crews in installing underground piping systems for heavy civil construction projects. This role is hands-on and critical to ensure that underground utilities are installed safely, accurately, and efficiently. If you understand trench work, know how to set pipe properly, and take pride in doing quality work, this job is for you. This position may require travel to various job sites depending on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Install underground pipe for storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water systems
- Read grade stakes, lasers, and layout marks to ensure pipe is installed at proper grade and alignment
- Assist with trench preparation, bedding material placement, and backfilling operations
- Guide heavy equipment operators during trenching and pipe placement
- Set pipe, fittings, valves, and structures according to project specifications
- Ensure pipe joints are properly sealed and connections are secure
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all trench safety and OSHA requirements
- Work closely with foremen, operators, and laborers to keep projects moving efficiently
- Travel to project sites as required based on job location and scheduling needs and plan repairs
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 2+ years of experience as a pipe layer in heavy civil or utility construction
- Experience installing storm, sewer, and waterline pipe
- Ability to read grade stakes, lasers, and construction drawings preferred
- Strong understanding of trench safety and underground utility installation practices
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 75 lbs
- Willingness and ability to travel to job sites as needed
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus, but not required
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety and quality
