Hiring Range: $380,000 to $492,000

UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks a Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon to join our growing team. Our competitive compensation and benefits package places us as your top choice in the region.

Key Highlights

  • Level I Trauma Center (Adult and Pediatric); approximately 130,000 emergency visits, 5,300 trauma activations, and 2,500 Surgical ICU admissions annually
  • Robust Acute Care Surgery practice with dedicated trauma day/night coverage
  • Surgical intensivist responsibilities across transplant, general surgery, surgical oncology, neurosurgery, and other high-acuity subspecialty patients
  • Three Surgical ICUs with a total of 40 beds located on the University Campus
  • Strong support from a large team of advanced practice providers (NPs and PAs)
  • Highly supportive hospital administration committed to trauma program growth
  • Access to departmental resources and infrastructure for trauma and critical care research
  • Academic appointment commensurate with experience and training through UMass Chan Medical School
  • Division expansion from 7 to 8 surgeons in response to increasing trauma volume
  • Modern technology platforms (e.g., Epic EMR) for seamless communication and workflow efficiency

Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible; fellowship training in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care required
  • Interest in academic medicine, including teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers
  • Interest in clinical, quality, simulation, and injury prevention research
  • MD or DO degree and qualify for medical Massachusetts license
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered clinical care
  • Two or more years of experience preferred
