
Environmental Compliance Inspector
Job Description

Conduct independent compliance audits of Developer-performed environmental inspections and documentation.

Review Developer’s Environmental Compliance Reports, inspection logs, and corrective action records for accuracy and completeness.

Verify implementation of approved Comprehensive Environmental Protection Plan (CEPP), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and erosion/sediment control measures.

Conduct field inspections to observe environmental practices and confirm compliance with applicable permits, including NPDES, Section 404/401.

Track and document findings; issue audit reports with clear, actionable recommendations.

Coordinate with Environmental OV Manager, construction teams, and regulatory agencies as needed.

Support environmental incident response and participate in lessons-learned reviews.

Maintain organized records and assist in compliance reporting to Owner and oversight agencies.

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field, and 2 years of environmental construction/compliance related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

General understanding of construction plans, specifications, and permits with emphasis on Georgia sediment and erosion control practices,

Working knowledge of Section 10/404/401 permits and conditions,

Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level 1A Certification (Certified Personnel) or ability to obtain certification

4+ years of environmental construction/compliance experience with transportation projects administered by the GDOT is a plus
- Experience reading and interpreting transportation plans,

Ability to discuss compliance issues with co-workers, clients, regulatory agency staff, and contractors,

Proficient in the ability to write concise and readable technical inspection reports,

Computer skills (MS Office and web-based inspection report databases)

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) review.

Experience with design-build transportation projects

Ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills
