Position Summary: |
Plans and performs unique compliance / approval assignments of substantial variety and complexity, using precedence that are not fully applicable. May establish new procedures and recommend policies to address approvals. Will take a strategic approach to evaluate the impact of and make recommendations on changes to processes and systems affected by product approvals or related laws that govern product safety and import. Makes independent decisions after collaboration with others and with some guidance from supervisor. Will effectively communicate and work with all levels to inform, make recommendations, build consensus, and lead/execute cross-functional projects. Will use both technical product and quality systems knowledge to assess opportunities and conduct an impact analysis and make recommendations. Will utilize engineering technical skills and project management tools/methods to complete assignments; will plan, direct, coordinate project activities and execute tasks as part of cross-functional projects. Leads teams on department or corporate-level projects. Demonstrates technical leadership on compliance issues regularly, both internal and external to the organization. Participates well to accomplish goals on external committees as part of a corporate plan.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: |

- Established as a technical expert relative to product approvals, industries or regions.
- Provide technical assessments and recommendations on how to best comply with product approvals.
- Write standard work and provide training peers and the organization relative to compliance areas of expertise.
- Develop strategies and manage projects to gain product approvals and conformance for a variety of products.
- Design and develop departmental or organizational procedures to assure conformance, improve departmental efficiency and improve product or compliance quality.
- Manage key departmental projects directing the work of departmental and cross-functional resources.
- Assess business opportunities related to product compliance in cooperation with Customer Service and Distributors to drive good business decisions.
- Work with third party approval agencies and develop and maintain good business relationship with these agency contacts.
- Manage projects and approvals to a budget within area of responsibility.
- Participate on external standards committees as needed. (some travel involved)
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: |
|
Required:
- BS degree in engineering plus appropriate continuous training. (MBA, PE License and Project Management Certificate (PMI) all a plus)
- 7+years experience in a related technical field such as Product Engineering, Quality Engineering, , or Project Management. Chemical background preferred.
- Demonstrates the ability to complete complex projects thru cross-functional teams.
- Participates and/or manages multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced problem solving and significant decision making abilities.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Capable of building consensus at all levels and with team members.
- Strong computer and typical office software skills.
