This is an opportunity for a motivated candidate to join a team of energized ESG and stakeholder engagement professionals. Your unique skills, background and perspectives will contribute to our ESG strategy work and support MPC’s commitment to integrate sustainability into decision-making.
The ESG and Stakeholder Engagement Rep will develop and support corporate ESG and sustainability programs and projects. This includes oversight and implementation of our Renewable Feedstock Responsible Sourcing program; research, analysis and benchmarking; stakeholder engagement planning; sustainability reporting; and other projects.
The ideal candidate will be a strong verbal and written communicator, relationship builder and project manager; have strong technical capability in data management; and bring a regulatory or policy foundation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the oversight and implementation of MPC’s Renewable Feedstock Responsible Sourcing program, working with our traders and growing base of suppliers that provide waste and agricultural-based oils to serve two renewable diesel facilities.
- Use third party data, desktop assessments and supplier interviews, as needed.
- Use and develop technical tools to manage supplier profile, evaluate risk, and track outcomes.
- Develop strategies to enable responsible sourcing decisions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including renewables compliance and trading, business development and law teams; and external stakeholders, including suppliers, our joint venture partner, and software providers.
- Stay abreast of ESG trends, including regulations and risks affecting low carbon fuels; adoption of sustainability reporting regulations and frameworks; and stakeholder interests and provide recommendations for how these developments should inform strategy.
- Support the development of site-specific external stakeholder engagement plans in collaboration with cross-functional site leadership teams.
- Prepare sustainability reporting.
- Provide other programmatic and project support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.
- Four (4) years of relevant professional experience required.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Experience researching, analyzing data, and managing information systems. Digital proficiency and curiosity for evaluating and learning new applications. Excel and Power BI proficiency preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with strong interpersonal and listening abilities to explore sustainability topics, deepen long-term relationships, and respectfully impress MPC’s values and expectations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Problem solver with the ability to quickly evaluate a situation at hand and identify gaps, opportunities and solutions.
- Intellectually curious, with a track record demonstrating ability and willingness to learn.
- Experience working in multi-functional teams with the ability to foster collaborative relationships, influence and build trust in a highly matrixed organizational setting.
