Job Description

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

PGI is a privately held company, established in 1996.  We are a leading supplier of private label solutions in the automotive industry.  Our focus is on designing, manufacturing and distributing products for automotive, diesel, power-sports and specialty filter markets.  Our supply chain network now branches across the Pacific and into South America.

Job Purpose:  In addition to functioning as a working member of the distribution team, the team leader adds value to the team by assisting the supervisor in various administrative and daily operational tasks.  The team leader also provides guidance and support to team members in order to expedite efficient and accurate receipt, warehousing and shipment of finished goods, while maintaining a safe work environment.  May perform other duties as assigned.

  

 

Key Accountabilities 

  1. Prepares and circulates trailer contents and location reports; prepares the warehouse picking request documentation and distributes to team members; monitors and advises supervisor of work assignment completion; makes or suggests improvements.
  2. Performs computer transactions, including inbound stock transfer receipts, keypunch error detection and resolution, damaged goods transfers, etc; assists team members with inventory problems, order instructions, etc.
  3. Must be familiar with jobs in assigned area and have the ability to perform the jobs; operates various motorized and hand-operated equipment to load/unload freight/stock from trucks and trailers in accordance with established operating requirements.   Trains team members, explains job functions to others, provides assistance when needed and fills in for team members.
  4. Assists in assigning employees and monitoring manning daily.
  5. Performs administrative tasks such as ordering and maintaining supplies and collecting data.  Completes/verifies routine paperwork and forwards to supervisor for approval.
  6. Promotes teamwork.  Keeps supervisor informed of any problems associated with the area, and takes action to provide support for resolution of problems and continuous improvement.  Works closely with other team members to receive and give feedback.
  7. Assists in ensuring equipment is properly and safely maintained; performs visual safety checks and maintains safety checklist.  Monitors and improves safety and ergonomics.  Maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  8. Fills in and performs operational tasks in the absence of the supervisor.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

 

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:  Experience in distribution position would be preferred.

Communication:  Effectively convey information to a variety of individuals; listen, understand and retain information and process feedback; explain procedures and processes to train team members on various job duties.  In-person interaction with co-workers and supervisors.

 

Learning/Reading/Mathematical Comprehension:  

Perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Learn and comprehend standard operating procedures and basic warehousing techniques in order to follow and explain these to others and also make some independent judgment.

Read and write at high school level in order to maintain records, complete required paperwork and reports, and access, enter and change information on the computer.

Determine warehouse locations using alpha-numeric coding system.

Visual Requirements: 

Visually locate materials in warehouse.  Read handheld scanning instruments. 

Motor Skills:

Hand-eye coordination to operate motorized equipment in close quarters on a regular basis.

Regularly required to stand/sit for long periods of time.  Frequently walks to, from and within work areas.

Frequently bends, pushes/pulls and reaches with hands and arms.

Lifts/pushes/pulls up to 35 lbs.

Master skills necessary to relieve, assist and train team members.

Environment:

Work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, possible temperature extremes, dirt, solvents, paper dust, etc.

Special Skills:

Human relations and leadership skills.  Establish rapport and recognize the interests and needs of others.  Foster teamwork.  This would include temperament under stress conditions when dealing with others and the ability to gain cooperation and respect of team members.  Inspire motivation and encourage others towards continuous improvement.

Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment as required by Powered Industrial Equipment Program to acquire and maintain license. 

Dependability:  Maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct.  Work any shift and overtime as required.
