Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) are Field-based Medical Affairs Associates of Novartis, who develop peer-to-peer relationships with Medical Experts/Key Stakeholders and members of the scientific community, utilizing scientific and medical evidence-based non-promotional materials.

They strategically prepare and support the development, launch and commercialization of Novartis products through scientific exchange, seeking external insight to shape Novartis understanding of the therapeutic environment. Their activities begin up to two years prior to launch of a new molecule. They respond to unsolicited requests for scientific information and provide clinical trial support.

Reporting to the Field Medical Excellence Lead, you will collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical, Market Access, and other teams—transforming insights into actionable strategies that accelerate access to Oncology therapies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain peer-to-peer scientific relationships with Medical Experts (MEs), assess advocacy, and respond to unsolicited requests using compliant, non-promotional materials.

  • Identify and map key stakeholders, build advocacy levels, and meet Field Medical Excellence metrics with proper system documentation.

  • Provide accurate, evidence-based scientific information to Healthcare Professionals on treatment options, including Novartis products and therapeutic areas.

  • Deliver up-to-date medical support to external stakeholders to ensure alignment with clinical guidelines and health economics data.

  • Support clinical research by enabling trial awareness, site feasibility, accrual activities, and investigator-initiated research collaboration.

  • Drive scientific exchange by engaging stakeholders, sharing insights on emerging science, and addressing critical patient care topics.

  • Collect and synthesize field insights to inform medical strategy, clinical development, launch planning, and education programs.

  • Execute scientific projects and provide cross-functional medical support, including training internal teams and collaborating with Medical, Commercial, and Market Access stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in building peer-to-peer relationships with medical experts, key opinion leaders, and healthcare stakeholders

  • Familiarity with clinical trial processes, including site feasibility, recruitment support, and adherence to regulatory guidelines.

  • Strong analytical skills to collect, interpret, and report scientific insights that inform medical strategy and product lifecycle planning.

  • Skilled in delivering evidence-based, non-promotional scientific information to healthcare professionals.

  • Advanced degree in life sciences or healthcare (Pharmacy Doctorate) and Degree in Medicines (MBBS) preferred.
