
RN PACU Outpt Surgery Center (Per Diem)
Job Description
· Understands all aspects of post-operative care, to include assessments and potential complications.
· Takes appropriate safety and infection control measures at all times. Has working knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation.
· Maintains and evaluates own clinical expertise and clinical practice, demonstrates the importance of continuing education to the performance of facility responsibilities and growth in profession.
· Conducts quality review audits as assigned by manager or designee.
· Maintains flexibility with scheduling and job assignments in order to cover patient needs.
· Fosters a positive and professional ambulatory surgery center environment by interacting with all persons in a considerate, helpful and courteous manner and by participating as a team member.
· Participates in committees, work groups, and meetings as deemed necessary. Can demonstrate measurable results an meet target dates.
· Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and takes part in shared leadership.
· Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and ACLS
· Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process utilizing standards set forth for Nursing Practice by the ANA and ASPAN
· Organizes, modifies, evaluates, documents, and maintains the plan of care for PACU patients based on total assessment and the age of the patients.
· Participates and cooperates in the unit-based Quality Improvement processes.
· Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
· Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
· Evaluates and documents patient’s response; monitors and recognizes changes in physiological and psychosocial status; takes appropriate action based on clinical condition, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology of patient.
· Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm
· Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
· Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Must read, write and communicate in English.
- Basic Life Support and ACLS Certification required.
- Critical Care experience preferred
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory, compliance, and accreditation standards and requirements
