Mechanical Engineer

The Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST), the world’s most advanced solar observatory, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Level II or III) to support and enhance critical telescope and facility systems. Based in Maui, Hawai‘i, this role involves mechanical design, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance to ensure system reliability and performance. Engineers collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support operations, and contribute to continuous improvement in a mission-driven environment. Level II focuses on moderately complex tasks with guidance, while Level III leads projects, resolves complex issues, and operates with greater independence.
