The Senior Purchasing Agent position is a leadership role within the Production and Material Control department. Focus areas of responsibility include sub-contract and vendor relationships, cost control for purchased goods, and training and mentoring staff associates. Monitor and control the flow of documents between engineering, manufacturing and accounting to ensure proper accuracy for production. This position reports to the Materials & Logistics Manager.
Qualifications

- Honest, professional, independently driven and responsible
- Basic understanding of steel fabrication, manufacturing processes, and indented bills of materials
- Working knowledge of computerized purchasing and inventory control techniques
- Excellent communications skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- General understanding of basic accounting procedures
- Minimum five years of experience in Purchasing
Responsibilities:
- Weekly reporting of cost saving initiatives
- Weekly reporting of lead time reduction programs
- Sourcing and approving new sub-contract suppliers
- Promote excellence throughout the department
- Negotiates with vendors to obtain best competitive price and delivery to meet production requirements and cost estimates
- Vendor selection and performance evaluation based on costs, quality and timeliness of deliveries
- Maintain inventory levels as required to meet production requirements
