Position Summary:
The Quality Manager is responsible for owning and leading the site’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory and industry standards. This role provides leadership, direction, and accountability for overall site quality performance, ensuring product integrity and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
The Quality Manager partners cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to ensure quality is fully integrated into all business processes while aligning quality objectives with site and organizational goals.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Own and lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and applicable standards (e.g., IATF 16949, PED, API).
- Ensure site-wide compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
- Own QMS performance, including KPI tracking, reporting, and driving improvement actions aligned with business objectives.
- Lead internal and external audits and ensure effective and timely closure of findings.
- Lead, coach, and develop quality personnel including inspectors and technical staff.
- Supervise quality inspectors & technical staff in carrying out tests and quality checks.
- Organize, train and maintain inspector certifications. (i.e ASNT levels NDE etc)
- Perform welder qualification and maintain training records.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Own the CAPA process and ensure effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Utilize quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and process capability analysis where appropriate.
- Serve as the primary site representative for customer quality, supplier quality, audits, complaints, and escalations.
- Set QA compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved.
- Conduct supplier audits
- Oversee inspection, testing, verification, and nonconforming material processes.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to integrate quality into all business processes.
- Perform Root cause analysis (RCA) using industry standard methodologies 5 why, 8D, fishbone, etc.
- Review customer specifications for compliance and prepare required documentation demonstrating Crane Cryogenics meets those requirements (i.e., Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s), Vendor Data and Drawing Requirements (VDDR), etc.)
- Represent the company with customers and suppliers regarding quality issues

Qualifications / Experience
Required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Management or prior experience in another leadership role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or Related discipline
- Unimpeachable ethics. Uses data and standards to drive decisions related to quality.
- Must have excellent analytical skills, be an effective communicator with all levels of employees, have good negotiating skills, have good planning skills and be able to lead a project to completion, team player as well as a team leader.
- Adaptable and coachable
- Must be willing to go to GEMBA and spend meaningful time on the shop floor
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Experience leading audits, CAPA systems, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated leadership experience with accountability for team or functional performance
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficient in Excel
- Availability to travel 5-10% of time.
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (PED, API, pressure equipment)
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 principles and core quality tools (PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, etc.)
- Cryogenic systems or equipment experience preferred
- Practical experience in stainless steel and aluminum welding
- Experience with ASME B31.3, B31.12
- Cryogenic industry and equipment experience
- Proficiency with statistical tools such as Minitab
- ASQ Certification (CQE preferred)
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, bend stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule inclusive of overtime and weekends depending on business needs
- Must be a legal resident of the United States with reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work in both shop and office environments.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
