Job Summary
The Cardiology Tech 1 performs routine, stat, pre-operative, and outpatient EKG tests. This helps physicians deliver patient care. They record heart muscle activity using an electrocardiograph machine. This provides data for diagnosing heart ailments.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Completes all necessary steps to get and process electrocardiograms.
- Explains test procedures as needed to prepare patients for the process and to provide them with the necessary functions.
- Utilizes all equipment associated with EKG procedures properly and records the necessary information accurately to obtain high quality results.
- Monitors heart rates, arrhythmias and blood pressure under the supervision of a Senior EKG technician and/or a physician.
- Note any significant deviation in the technique used to record EKG. Complete any required forms and distribute reports by Baylor Scott & White Health procedures.
- Performs Holter Monitor hookups using established procedures.
- Performs basic functions on MUSE-EKG database system.
- Downloads EKG's accurately for proper storage and retrieval. Prints record and attached proper documentation to tracing for all billing transactions.
- Performs retrieval and report distribution tasks quickly and efficiently.
- Inputs patient demographic and test data into computerized EKG machine accurately and in a timely way.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area, including monitoring supplies.
- Maintains equipment by replenishing paper and reporting problems promptly to the appropriate person.
Key Success Factors
- Previous experience in healthcare related field preferred.
- Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.
- Ability to multi-task and self-lead problem solving skills.
- Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility.

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
