As a Benefits Advisor you will under limited supervision, maintain the pension administration system and supports pension administration activities.

- Utilize intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, validation, reconciliation, formulas, pivot tables, and reporting tools, to analyze data and ensure data accuracy.
- Update and verify data for accuracy from the payroll system and other sources to ensure accurate calculations are produced through the pension system.
- Manage the pension system through direct communications/collaboration with software vendor and in-house personnel, payroll and/or IT staff to apply upgrades/enhancements, troubleshoot system and data problems and ensures pension system data integrity.
- Analyze data results for pension batch processing, annual benefit and pension statements, actuarial valuations, annual audit reports and other projects.
- Extract data from the pension system for data evaluation and various reporting.
- Process pension packages and estimates daily from participant requests , retirements, etc.
- Assist with managing incoming calls and monitoring the department email box.
- Analyze government regulations, benefit program trends, and prevailing practices among similar organizations.
- Prepare and communicates government-mandated disclosures.
- Remain current on HIPAA, compliance; participates in the preparation and coordination of benefit plan audits for compliance with HIPAA, SOX, or other government regulations.
- Coordinate transfer of data and creates reports for external vendors, plan providers, auditors, other Valero departments, management, and consultants.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of professional-level human resources work that includes pension and 401k experience required.
- Utilizes intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, validation, reconciliation, formulas, pivot tables, and reporting tools, to analyze data and ensure data accuracy required.
- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Working knowledge of SAP payroll reporting or other payroll system reporting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources preferred.
