Job Description
Coordinates the management of the Utilities geographic information system, develops the Geographic Information System (GIS) database, reviews data sources/inputs, and the associated publishing of data for the Department. Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all GIS data related to pumped and gravity flow infrastructure.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.

- Uses the ARCGIS 10.x platform to perform editing, spatial analysis, and produce maps.
- Configures mobile devices including GPS equipment.
- Completes associated computer-related technical work.
- Performs aerial imagery analysis and digitizes features using imagery.
- Uses imagery analysis to identify project sites and locations.
- Translates information on maps, surveys, and various other instruments used by various professions.
- Researches, locates, analyzes various types of data within databases, maps, as well as local, state and national references.
- Provides statistical analysis based on spatial data.
- Develops spatial relationships with various types of data and formats.
- Coordinates and prioritizes inflow of geographic and tabular data.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs other related work as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical Effort Requirements
Position will have the following exposures
- Office or similar indoor environment, relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university in GIS, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field.
- At least one (1) year of experience in coordinating the management of geographic information system, associated mapping of the data, GIS database design, and data entry.

- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
