Job Summary
St. Margaret of Scotland School is seeking caring and dependable individuals to serve as Aftercare Aides within the school's after-school program. The Aftercare Aide provides supervision and support for students while creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. This role is responsible for monitoring student activities, promoting positive interactions, and ensuring the well-being of children in their assigned group.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for a designated group of children during the aftercare program
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times
- Engage children in age-appropriate games, activities, and play
- Foster a positive, welcoming, and supportive environment
- Monitor student behavior and address concerns appropriately
- Follow established school and aftercare safety procedures and protocols
- Assist with daily program operations, including transitions, attendance, and cleanup
- Communicate concerns regarding student behavior, safety, or well-being to program leadership
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Experience working with children preferred
- Ability to supervise and engage groups of children effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Genuine care and concern for children's development and well-being
- Understanding of basic child safety practices and emergency procedures
- Patience, reliability, and professionalism
- Ability to maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
Working Conditions
- Part-time position
- Requires active supervision of children, including standing, walking, and participating in activities
- Must be able to respond appropriately to emergencies and maintain a safe environment
