- Prepare and post journal entries related to labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, inventory, and project accruals.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by preparing schedules, analyses, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of project‑level financial reporting, including cost, margin, and variance analysis.
- Support internal and external audits by providing timely, accurate documentation.
- Maintain accurate project cost records within ERP systems, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Assist with cost‑to‑complete updates and percent‑complete calculations for project reporting.
- Analyze project cost variances and collaborate with Project Management to understand drivers and impacts.
- Support project setup, budget maintenance, and project closeout activities.
- Ensure alignment between project budgets, actual costs, and forecasted results.
- Work cross‑functionally with Project Management, Procurement, and Operations to resolve cost discrepancies, improve data accuracy, and support project performance
- Support customer billing processes, including progress, milestone, and time‑and‑materials invoicing in coordination with Project Management and Finance leadership
- Reconcile billed revenue to project records and the general ledger.
- Assist with tracking change orders and contract modifications from an accounting and reporting perspective.
- Support accounts receivable analysis, including retainage tracking and billing reconciliation.
- Support compliance with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and applicable state and local labor requirements when applicable.
- Assist with sales/use tax tracking and coordination with Tax and Payroll teams.
- Maintain organized accounting records and documentation to support internal controls and audit requirements.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in operational accounting.
- Support ERP data integrity, job cost accuracy, and reporting reliability related to project and operational accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of project accounting experience, preferably EPC, construction or engineering services.
- Strong understanding of Contract Accounting, Revenue Recognition, and ASC 606, including percent-complete (PoC) methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting methods, internal controls, and compliance standards.
- Deadline‑driven, fast paced construction project environments
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and project modules.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
- US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
- Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Strong attention to detail with solid analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication (both oral & written) and presentation skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet strict deadlines.
- Process improvement experience a plus (i.e., ideally Lean and/or Six Sigma).
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community – tactful, mature and professional.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains Financials or other ERP systems is a plus.
