Overview
The Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) – Overground Stations (Structural Steel) will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of structural steel works across overground station projects, ensuring construction excellence, quality, and adherence to project timelines. The role focuses on the execution, coordination, and integration of structural steel systems within station buildings, requiring strong site leadership and technical expertise.
Your role
- Lead and manage site supervision activities specifically related to structural steel works for overground station projects.
- Ensure all structural steel installations are executed in accordance with approved design drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Oversee fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, and alignment of structural steel components.
- Monitor interface coordination between structural steel, architectural elements, façade systems, and MEP services within station structures.
- Provide technical guidance on structural steel systems, erection methodologies, temporary works, and constructability issues.
- Review shop drawings, method statements, and inspection/test plans (ITPs) related to structural steel works.
- Coordinate closely with contractors, fabricators, consultants, and client teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor progress on site, identify risks or delays in steel erection activities, and implement mitigation measures.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and quality requirements, particularly during lifting and erection operations.
- Supervise and guide inspectors and site engineers responsible for structural steel works.
- Conduct regular progress meetings and provide updates to senior stakeholders and clients.
- Support resolution of site issues including non-conformances related to steel fabrication and installation.
About you
Experience
- Minimum 15–18 years of experience in construction supervision/engineering roles, with a strong focus on structural steel works.
- Proven experience in delivering large-scale infrastructure or station projects, preferably involving overground/rail stations.
- Strong expertise in:
- Structural steel fabrication and erection
- Temporary works and lifting plans
- Connection detailing and site tolerances
- Interface coordination with façade and MEP systems
- Experience in rail or metro projects is highly desirable.
- Sound knowledge of international codes and standards related to structural steel (e.g., BS, AISC, Eurocode).
- Demonstrated ability to manage site teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and HSE practices for structural steel works.
