Description
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular quality control (QC) checks on underwriting decisions for both initial applications and renewals.
- Perform thorough reviews of (SME) underwriting decisions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal guidelines, policies, and external regulations. - This includes analysis of management accounts and reports, assessing commercial bureau data, and ensuring appropriate financial metrics and risk factors are evaluated correctly.
- Identify underwriting errors, inconsistencies, or areas for improvement, and provide feedback to the respective teams or individuals to enhance performance.
- Conduct targeted reviews of potential fraud cases, ensuring that fraud detection policies and measures are effectively implemented.
- Collaborate with the Credit Policy and Oversight Manager to maintain a proactive and comprehensive QC framework across underwriting and Loan Decision processes.
- Supporting in refining underwriting policies and procedures to improve overall quality and operational efficiency.
- Prepare regular reports summarising QC findings, recommendations for improvements, and performance against key metrics.
- Work closely with the CR team and other departments to ensure continuous improvement in underwriting and decision-making quality.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- SME Underwriting Experience: Minimum of [2 years] in underwriting, with hands-on experience in assessing management accounts and commercial bureaus.
- Proven ability to work within a structured QC framework, identifying inconsistencies or errors, and driving improvements.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, ensuring all reviews are thorough and accurate.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear, actionable feedback to improve underwriting performance.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- QC Experience: Previous experience in conducting QC checks, including reviewing underwriting decisions, assessing quality metrics, and providing constructive feedback to individuals or teams.
