The opportunity
As a Manager ranked Platform Engineer specialising in cloud-based data platforms, you will design, build and implement scalable data environments that support advanced analytics and geospatial (GIS) capabilities. Working closely with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders, you will play a key role in enabling robust, secure and high-performing platforms that drive business outcomes.
You will bring experience across modern cloud ecosystems and will contribute to the design and operation of data platforms, with a strong emphasis on geospatial data integration and management. You will also support team delivery, providing technical leadership and guidance where required.
In line with client requirements this role is based in our Boorloo – Perth, Australia office.
Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.
Your key responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain scalable cloud-based data platforms across Azure, AWS or GCP
- Develop and optimise data platform architectures to support large-scale, complex and geospatial datasets
- Implement data ingestion, processing and storage solutions for structured, unstructured and GIS data
- Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical platform solutions
- Ensure platform security, performance, reliability and data governance standards are met
- Support and guide team members, contributing to delivery planning and technical direction
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and promote modern engineering practices
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong experience designing and implementing cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP)
- Experience working with geospatial information systems (GIS) data and associated tooling
- Proficiency in data platform technologies such as Databricks, Spark, Azure Data Factory, or similar
- Experience with data modelling, integration, and data pipeline development
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices (e.g. Terraform, CI/CD pipelines)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience contributing to or leading delivery within a team environment
Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below, but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience in geospatial analytics platforms, spatial data processing frameworks, and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or GIS-specific platforms.
