Job Description

The Application Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise application architectures that support organizational goals and business operations. This position provides technical leadership in the evaluation and selection of technologies, development frameworks, databases, and cloud platforms while ensuring applications are secure, scalable, reliable, and high performing. The Application Architect collaborates with stakeholders, developers, and IT teams to define architectural standards, optimize system performance, oversee application development initiatives, and support data warehousing and integration strategies across the organization.
  1. Design and maintain enterprise application architectures, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology standards. 
  2. Develop and document technical solutions, including front-end, back-end, database, integration, and cloud-based components. 
  3. Evaluate, recommend, and implement appropriate technologies, frameworks, development tools, and cloud platforms. 
  4. Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle. 
  5. Establish and enforce architectural standards, coding best practices, security requirements, and governance processes. 
  6. Collaborate with business stakeholders, project teams, and vendors to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions. 
  7. Design, develop, and support APIs, system integrations, and service-oriented or microservices-based architectures. 
  8. Oversee database design, data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization efforts to ensure data integrity and system efficiency. 
  9. Design and support data warehousing solutions and data integration processes to meet reporting and analytics needs. 
  10. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. 
  11. Design, implement, and support clustered and high-availability environments to ensure business continuity and system resilience. 
  12. Review and approve technical designs, system configurations, and application deployments to ensure compliance with organizational standards. 
  13. Research emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend improvements to the organization's application ecosystem. 
  14. Develop and maintain technical documentation, architectural diagrams, standards, and procedures. 
  15. Provide support for complex application issues, system upgrades, and strategic technology initiatives.
  16. All other duties as assigned.
Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the candidate’s ability to perform successfully in this position will be considered. 
  1. Application Architecture: Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise application architectures, including front-end, back-end, database, and system integration components.
  2. Technology Selection: Proven ability to evaluate, recommend, and implement appropriate technologies, including programming languages, development frameworks (e.g., .NET, Java Enterprise), and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  3. Technical Leadership: Experience providing technical direction, mentoring development teams, and overseeing software implementation to ensure adherence to architectural standards and industry best practices.
  4. System Performance & Reliability: Strong experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing application architectures to ensure performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
  5. Data Warehousing: Extensive knowledge of data warehouse architecture, design, implementation, and data integration strategies supporting business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
  6. Cluster Technologies: Minimum of 5–10 years of experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and managing clustered environments and high-availability solutions.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in software development, application engineering, database design, systems architecture, or related information technology roles.
  2. Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of software development languages and technologies, including C#, Java, C++, Python, and API development and integration.
  3. Architecture Frameworks: Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), microservices, and cloud-native application architectures.
  4. Communication & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with strong project management, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  5. Database Design & Performance: Extensive experience designing, implementing, and optimizing database schemas, including performance tuning, query optimization, and data modeling best practices.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
