Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with RNFA) to join the Multi Surgical Specialty Team.

Role Overview: In this role, you will serve as first and second assist for open, robotic, and laparoscopic procedures across the Urology, Gynecologic Oncology, Head and Neck, and Gastric Mixed Tumor Surgery services, with expectations of training in and supporting additional subspecialties as operational needs dictate.

As an APP at MSK, you will be a valued member of a multidisciplinary team working collaboratively to deliver high quality, evidenced-based, comprehensive cancer care to a variety of surgical patients, participate in research and quality improvement initiatives, and strive to support the mission and standards of the institution.


Key Qualifications:

  • • Graduate from an accredited PA program

  • • NCCPA certification

  • • Active NYS license or be qualified for state licensure

  • • Minimum of 2 years of related surgical experience required

  • • Robotic experience preferred

  • • BLS and ACLS certification

  • • Current New York State (NYS) RN and NP license/registrations

  • • RNFA Certification

  • • Master’s degree in nursing, prescriptive privileges (or eligibility)

  • • Related National NP certification

  • • Minimum of 2 years of related surgical experience required

  • • BLS and ACLS certification

Core Skills:

  • Advanced intraoperative first assist skills, including expertise in minimally invasive techniques and equipment troubleshooting (e.g. laparoscopy, da Vinci systems)

  • High-performance execution in fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environments with a high degree of autonomy

  • Strong clinical judgement and the ability to rapidly assess, prioritize, and respond to evolving patient and procedural needs

  • Surgical workflow optimization and promotion of OR efficiency

  • Leadership by example in maintaining surgical standards, best practices, and a culture of safety

  • Effective collaboration with diverse personalities and multidisciplinary teams, including clear, assertive communication in high-pressure OR settings

  • Emotional intelligence in demanding environments, including professional and compassionate communication with patients and caregivers

  • Mentorship and training of fellows, PAs, and OR staff to support skill development and maintain clinical excellence

  • Ongoing commitment to learning and adaptability in the adoption of new surgical technologies and workflows

  • Dedication to delivering safe, efficient, high quality, evidence-based surgical care.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Josie Robertson Surgery Center, 1133 York Ave, New York, NY 10065

  • Hours: Full time – training 10 hour days Monday - Friday, fully trained 13 hour days / Flexed Monday – Saturday (Hours flexed between 6:30 am & 10 pm)

  • Reports to: Manager, APP

Pay Range: $136,400.00 - $225,100.00
